Corporate Process Workflow

A factory has got to have an assembly line, and the assembly line is run by a workqueue. When I was a Radiology Systems Administrator at NY Hospital, we had a department of 100 technologies, 20 radiologists, and saw 150,000 patients a year. It was all run by workqueues, and I spent a great deal of time evaluating the subtleties of worklist user interfaces. 10 years later, I was enamored with the Checklist Manifesto book by Atul Gawande and wrote myself a little to-do application; and 10 years after that I rewrote it for Industrial Kintsugi. Yes, we could use someone else’s workqueue services; but having our own internal software that we can modify to our specific needs is taking control of our own destiny.
